WOSC Password Assistance
Passwords must meet the following requirements:
- Be between 6 and 9 characters
- Contain no parts of username that are 3 or more consecutive characters
- Contain one or more letters
- Contain one or more uppercase letters
- Contain one or more numbers
- Contain one or more non-alphanumeric characters, except ;?:@&=<>\ [space].
Online Class Technical Requirements
Please begin by using the Online Class Browser Check to make sure your internet browser is compatible with Canvas, aka Online Classes. More information about browsers can be found below.

Microsoft Windows recommendations (minimum)
- Intel Core i3 Processor or higher
- AMD processors must be at least 1 GHz
- 4GB RAM or higher
- 128 GB of disk space or higher
- Speakers and/or Headphone- Windows 10 Operating System or higher - Apple (Mac) recommendations (minimum)
- Dual-Core Intel Processor or higher- 4GB RAM or higher
- 128 GB of disk space or higher- Speakers and/or Headphone- OS 10.8 or higher with the latest software updates
- REQUIREMENT: Enable Cookies and disable Pop-up's for wosc.edu. (see below for help) Quizzes will not work if pop-ups are being blocked by any program.
- PLEASE NOTE: Western's standard software for word processing, spreadsheets and presentations is Microsoft Office 2010 or higher, with file extensions of .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx. File extensions such as .wps (MS Works) are not acceptable. MS Works users should go under the "File" menu to "Save As.." and check the various file formats to which the file can be saved. Potential alternatives also include the use of OpenOffice and Google Docs which can both manage these types of files. Acceptable formats may include: .doc (Word 2003 or earlier), .docx (Word 2007+), .rtf (Rich Text Format), .pdf (Adobe Acrobat), .xls (Excel 2003 or earlier), .xlsx (Excel2007+), .ppt/pps (PowerPoint 2003 or earlier), .pptx/ppsx (PowerPoint 2007+), or .jpg (JPEG). Depending on the course and instructor, other file formats may be acceptable, so be sure to ask your instructor or check the assignment requirements in your course.
