Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM)

What is BCM?

Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) is an on-campus student led Christian organization. The purpose is to enhance one's relationship to Jesus Christ in association with other believers as well as to reach the campus for Him. As a vital ministry of Oklahoma Baptists, BCM aims to advance the gospel on 39 college campuses right here in Oklahoma. We do that by having BCM directors on nearly every campus in Oklahoma with the mission of helping students follow Jesus in college. In fact, our motto is “every campus, every life,” because that is who we want to impact, every campus in Oklahoma, and every life on each campus.

Is it just for Baptists?

No. It is for any person that desires to participate.

What does BCM offer?

BCM offers opportunities to be involved with activities such as: on campus Evangelism, Missions, Prayer, Bible Studies, Discipleship, Worship, Fellowships, and Sports.

Noondays at the BCM

BCM invites all students to come have free lunch and join in fellowship at their weekly Noonday event held every Wednesday during the academic year. This event takes in the SSC Activity Center right across from Financial Aid and runs from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We offer two opportunities to hear a brief devotional message 11:15 and 12:15.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

The purpose of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes is to present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of knowing Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church. Participants for college huddles are to be past or present members of recognized school athletic teams or involved on an intercollegiate level team or an intramural program.

VISION

To see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.

MISSION

To lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.

VALUES

Our relationships will demonstrate steadfast commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word through Integrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence.

Integrity

We will demonstrate Christ-like wholeness, privately and publicly. (Proverbs 11:3)

Serving

We will model Jesus’ example of serving. (John 13:1-17)

Teamwork

We will express our unity in Christ in all our relationships. (Philippians 2:1-4)

Excellence

We will honor and glorify God in all we do. (Colossians 3:23-24)

METHODS

As FCA matures, we seek to make disciples through our methods of engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.

Engage

(1 Thessalonians 2:8)

We engage relationally by connecting with individuals and through events in many different environments by building genuine trust, sharing our lives and sharing the gospel. We strive to connect with coaches and athletes where they are on their spiritual journey.

Equip

(Ephesians 4:12)

After cultivating relationships and once coaches and athletes come to faith in Christ, we want to equip them with Christ-centered training, events, resources and on-going support in what it means to be a follower of Christ, growing in God’s Word and applying it to life.

Empower

(2 Timothy 2:2)

Once equipped, we empower faithful leaders who desire to use their time, talents and treasures to help other coaches and athletes experience the gospel, grow in their faith and share Him with others. We desire to develop disciples who make disciples, assisting them so that they can in turn engage, equip and empower others to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.

The Native American Student Organization (NASO) is an organization that provides opportunities for students to participate in culturally relevant activities that foster a closer union, and to also take part in activities that perpetuate individual tribal traditions and customs both on- and off-campus.

Participation in NASO is encouraged for people from every ethnic background and race.  Being Native American is not a requirement of NASO. One of the key aspects of NASO is that it is organized, implemented, and developed by WOSC students.  Once the organization is established, NASO would like to conduct executive officer meetings twice a month, conducts general membership meetings every month, and conducts about one event per month that is a leadership development event, informational conference, or fun activity for the general membership.
