Student Refunds
A refund is any money that Western owes you. Below are common reasons why you may receive a refund:
- Financial Aid overages
- Dropped classes within the nonrestrictive drop/add period
- Student account overpayments
WAYS TO RECEIVE A REFUND
Student refunds are processed periodically throughout the semester. Refunds are delivered either by paper check through the mail or electronically through Herring Bank to the designated bank account you choose.
To set up your electronic direct deposit, please follow the steps below:
- Log into MyWestern.
- Select Student Finance.
- On the Account Summary page, select Refund Choice Designation under the Helpful Links on the right side of the page.
- In the new window, you can select to use an existing bank account, or select a Herring Bank account. If you choose the checking account offered by Herring Bank, they will open a new checking account for you and mail you a debit card for this account to your address on file.
If you do not set up an electronic direct deposit, your refund will be printed as a paper check and mailed to the address on your MyWestern account. If your home address is listed, but you are living in Altus, please update your address to an Altus address, until you return home for the Summer or after graduation.
REFUND PROCESSING
Refunds are processed periodically throughout the semester. Student Billing cannot determine when a Financial Aid award will be disbursed for refund processing.
Students are advised to check their MyWestern account for the status of any Financial Aid awards. Please contact the Financial Aid department directly for any Financial Aid award questions.
