Western Oklahoma State College is excited to welcome Raylon and Michelle Shumaker as President’s Partners.

The Shumaker family have a long history with Western Oklahoma State College, with Raylon and their three children all having attended the institution. Raylon and Michelle met at Southern Nazarene University and came back to Raylon’s roots to make Eldorado their home. Raylon built his career at Farm Credit of Western Oklahoma, where he has worked for the past 32 years and currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Appraisal, overseeing seven offices. Michelle, after a career in public education teaching in Altus, Eldorado, and Navajo, recently joined Western as the Director of the Learning Resource Center.

The Shumakers feel strongly about giving back and helping students prepare for the future. They believe the President’s Partner program is a great way for them to bless others, as their family has been blessed with their educational experiences while here at Western.

Western Oklahoma State College President Dr. Wiginton says of this new partnership, “Beginning in 2013, the Shumakers were regulars on our campus watching their daughters play for the Lady Pioneers basketball team.  Raylon has been a longtime Western Ag Advisory Committee member and Michelle was the cheer sponsor for several years.  We are so fortunate to now have Michelle and both her daughters (Katelynn Thompson and Kriston Cusher) working side by side on our campus to continue to make this a great place for our students.  Families like the Shumakers who jump in and give it all they've got are what make southwest Oklahoma and Western special.”

Western Oklahoma State College is thankful to Raylon and Michelle and to all of the President’s Partners for providing financial support above and beyond the operational funding provided to the college by the Oklahoma Legislature.

The Western Oklahoma State College Foundation provides the opportunity to invest in the future by offering many ways to give. The WOSC Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 organization and exists to generate support for the students and programs of Western Oklahoma State College. For more information on the President’s Partner Program or other ways to give, visit wosc.edu/give or call our office at (580) 477-7706.
