Western President's Partners Fund New Scholarship to Support Concurrent Enrollment Students

The Western Oklahoma State College Foundation is thrilled to announce a new scholarship initiative funded by the WOSC President's Partners. This scholarship is designed to support first-time and first-generation students enrolling in concurrent enrollment courses by covering the fees associated with three credit hours.

Concurrent enrollment allows high school students to earn college credits while still in high school, providing a head start on their higher education journey. Through the state of Oklahoma’s concurrent program, full tuition is waived up to 18 hours for high school seniors and 9 hours for juniors. However, the additional associated costs can be a barrier for many students. The new scholarship aims to alleviate this financial burden, making concurrent enrollment more accessible to students who may otherwise struggle to afford these opportunities.

High school counselors have been provided with the necessary applications for students to apply for this scholarship. Eligible students must be first-time college attendees and/or first-generation students.

"Concurrent enrollment continues to be a very popular program for high school students wanting to get a head start on their college education.  First-generation college students often fall through the cracks and are either unaware or unable to participate due to financial hardships.  We are grateful the WOSC Foundation saw this need and has provided funding through the President's Partners program," said Western President Dr. Chad Wiginton.

Funding for the scholarship is limited, and Western encourages anyone interested in supporting this vital program to contact Monica Taylor at foundation@wosc.edu or 580.477.7706. By contributing, donors can help more students take advantage of concurrent enrollment, setting them on a path toward academic success.

The Western Oklahoma State College Foundation provides the opportunity to invest in the future by offering many ways to give. The WOSC Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 organization and exists to generate support for the students and programs of Western Oklahoma State College.
